The Carolina Panthers are planning to sign running back Rashaad Penny, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported.

Penny, 28, will reunite with head coach Dave Canales from their days with the Seattle Seahawks, an unnamed source told Fowler.

The move is expected to become official after this weekend's rookie minicamp.

Penny joins a crowded Panthers backfield of rookie Jonathon Brooks, Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders, Raheem Blackshear and Tarik Cohen.

Penny played last season for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played from 2018-2022 for the Seahawks.

In 2023, Penny played in three games. He had 11 carries for 33 yards.
